Oh Man, what is it with this trend sensitive modern music nowadays.

First we had the pumping effect trend, like some terrible DJ constantly needs to play with the volume slider (still used in recent music as a matter of fact, long lasting trend?)

Then we had the wob wob , farting trend. Please stop, we know it already.

Next we where bored with the Tape Stop effect. To frequently used but slowly disappearing. Great!

And finally this chop vocal sounds in almost EVERY popular song release.

One producer gets lucky by scoring a hitsong with an (new) annoying soundeffect and bam!, we are forced to listen to hundreds of songs with this same annoying soundeffect for at least 2 years!

It's like clothing fashion. Skinny jeans. They're terrible but a lot of people are wearing them....

"wob wob , farting trend." Was my favorite part of your rant. It's all true though! Rather pathetic, but then I think back to my youth in the early 90's and I kind of remember the same thing happening. Do we as individuals even decide what's cool anymore? And to hell with them skinny pants, I like em baggy!

Thank you for the awesome share Olymoon, especially for the zippy links! Much appreciated!

Despite this being overused and quite annoying, I do find it highly useful for adding texture to a lot of tracks. By reducing the attack and using liberal amounts reverb and delay, I can create a lot of new rhythmic cinematic pads for added ambience and detuning and lowering this by several octaves, I have a bunch of horror fx for creepy themes and layers :D!

I dread the day when some famous dj will introduce fapping sounds to music...
